Education is vital in today's society.  Each child deserves an opportunity to learn and grow to their greatest potential.  I believe that effective teaching is not only important but essential to our society.  I count it a privilege to be an educator.

To be an effective educator, I believe that one must partner with the parents of the student.  The child's home life has a large impact on what occurs in the classroom.  A parent that is involved helps a teacher to know that child.  I believe that the lines of communication between school and home should be open and accessible.

Attendance is a very important factor in the educational development of a student.  Students should be present and ready to learn.  The attitude and persistence of a student are of great importance and can make all the difference in how much a student will learn.

I believe that learning can and should be fun.  I want my students to feel that they are part of a family, beginning with my classroom and encompassing the entire staff at Pi Beta Phi.  Each child at our school should feel safe and secure.  I want my students to feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them.  I try to create an encouraging and nurturing atmosphere.  My goal is that each and every student will leave my classroom having achieved their potential.  I love teaching, and I get an enormous sense of satisfaction from my job.
