News for the month of April

Dear Families,

In order for your child to improve their reading skills, I recommend they read AT LEAST 20 minutes every night.

April 30 second grade will begin the state test TNReady Test. This test is NOT to be taken lightly.  Being a parent myself, I know you want your child to do their very best at ANYTHING they attempt. Here are a few suggestions to help your child do their very best:

1.  Discuss with your child about reading each test item carefully.

2.  Think about what they have just read.

3.  Use what they have learned this year.  All learning this year will in some way apply in some way to the test.

4.  Get to bed between 8:30 and 9:00 pm. Studies show school age children need 8-10 hours of sleep each night.

5.  Have a hearty breakfast each morning.

For the remainder of this week and next, we will be reviewing skills learned this year and covering a few new skills. For language arts, we are touching on adverbs and for math we will be discussing data, geometry and fractions.

April 13~ AR cutoff at 3:00 pm.

April 17~ Ticket money for the Dollywood trip MUST be turned in.

If you EVER have a question or concern, please contact me at school. If I am unable to get to the phone, please leave a message and I WILL return your call as soon as possible. THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION AND SUPPORT!

Respectfully, J

Mrs. McDonald
