We have been working hard in our classroom. We have been reviewing and improving our phonics skills, increasing our vocabulary, making predictions, sequencing, drawing conclusions, synonyms, and antonyms in Reading.
In Language and Writing, we have learned about singular and plural nouns, letter writing, handwriting, commas in a series, and story writing.
In Math, we have been working on our math facts, telling time, counting money, problem solving, counting by 10's, 5's, 25's, dividing shapes in half, and even and odd numbers.
We will begin working on the scientific process soon. We will do science fair projects in the classroom. Look for information regarding science fair and how to create a science fair showboard. A science fair project is not required in second grade, but you are encouraged to complete one with your child at home.
All of the skills we are working on are very important. Any extra practice you can do at home with your child really helps. Thank you for all of your support!
HOMEWORK:
Click on the center icon of the house (with the books in it) at the top or bottom of the page to get to our weekly homework assignments! Make sure the drop-down menu says "all assignments." We begin all assignments in class, so any unfinished work is considered homework. Your child should also have all daily assignments written in their assignment book.
NOTICE:
Students are responsible for completing all missed work. Procedures for doing so have been clearly addressed. If work is not completed in a timely manner (see Pi Phi rules for make up work), the student will receive a zero. Once the 6 weeks is complete and grades are printed, I will not accept the work. I can no longer chase students down for make up work. Thank you for your cooperation.
