HMS Student Council Body has taken the lead for a food drive to stock the food pantry for Wake Relief. Wake Relief, established in 1975, is a volunteer organization committed to providing emergency food for Wake County residents in need. Wake Relief has always been and continues to be an all volunteer operation with the majority of funds donated used for food.
HMS food drive will kick-off on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 and run through to Friday, September 17th. Food items requested are: canned goods (Tuna, Chicken, corn, green beans, peas, beans (all kinds) soup, spaghetti sauce, large cans of fruit juice. Box goods are needed as well. These are: crackers, macaroni and cheese, spaghetti grits, cereal, detergent.
Other items are needed, such as toilet paper, soap, 1lb. bags of rice, 1or 2lb. bags of sugar, peanut butter (18oz). Students may bring them in and give them to their homeroom teacher. There is a need for parent volunteers to help with transportation. If you would be interested in helping, please email Mary Crawford (Faculty Student Council Advisor), mkcrawford@wcpss.net.
