During the 2011-2012 school year our counseling staff is joined by Stacy Wentz, a Masters intern. She will be offering anger management groups as well as social skills groups beginning this Fall. She is available to do individual counseling also.

WASD is continuing The Olweus Bully Prevention Program. This is the most researched and best known bullying prevention program available today. All WASD staff will be implemmenting the program's components.

We will be getting acquainted with your children as we present classroom lessons. In K and 1st grade the lessons focus on identifying and managing one's feelings. In 2nd grade, videos teach conflict resolution, and in 3rd grade we discuss bullying. The 4th grade lessons focus on peer pressure, self-esteem, bullying, and decision making. Good Secrets/Bad Secrets will be presented to K and 2nd grades. Rainbows, a program for children who have experienced a loss, is offered after school from October through February. A registration flyer for the Rainbows program will be sent home with your child in September.

Safe Horizons will once again present their four lessons for the Strong Kids Club. Safe Horizons will also present "Hands are Not for Hitting" to our Kindergarten students.
