March 15-19
Many of the kids are doing a great job on louisianapass.org. Many of them are working toward the PASS Party. I have been asking them to take a few tests each night if possible. Also, see below for the LEAP testing dates.
Scholastic Book Orders went home Monday. They will be due this Friday, 3-19. Please make checks payable to Scholastic.
Next Friday (3/26) we will have our class Spring Partyfrom 1:45-2:30. Parents are invited to attend. Students are allowed to bring in individually wrapped candy to give out (26 students).
Please continue to donate items for the Air National Guard airmen we have adopted.
Lake Harbor is going to the New Orleans Hornets game on April 9th. This is a parish school night. The school that sells the most tickets and has the highest attendance will get a team player visit to their school! Second place gets a Hugo visit. There are also prizes for top schools that involve students participating in the game activities at half time and before the players come out. Flyers went home last week, and there is a link on LHMS homepage.
Here are the final AR standings* for the 3rd 9 weeks, which ended last week:
100%: Brandon, Lindsay, Matthew, Jacey, Meghan, Claire, Makio, Tyler, Grant, Zoe
150%: Cameron
200%: Brent
*We will have an ice cream sundae party this Friday for all students who reached 100% or more of their goal. I will provide the ice cream, and the children can bring in any topping they would like to share with the others.

This Week’s Lessons:
Math: We will learn about area and perimeter from Chapter 8. We will test Thursday.
Reading: We will complete The Cricket in Times Square. We will test comprehension and vocabulary Friday. We will also work on Reading and Responding.Language: We will continue working on writing, proofreading, and using informational resources. In-class work will be graded.
Spelling: We will work in Unit 24. Test will be Thursday.
Science: We will learn about sound and force. We will test Friday.
Social Studies: Weekly Social Studies #27 due Friday. We will continue studying the Midwest region of the U.S. Test on states, capitals, & abbreviations will be Thursday. We will also review civics.
