Frequently Asked LEAP Questions

What is LEAP?
Louisiana Educational Assessment Program; It is a test designed to measure how well students have mastered Louisiana's content standards and grade level expectations.  Students need to have sufficient knowledge of this content to be prepared for the next grade level.

What happens if my child does not pass LEAP?
Do not panic!  Students will be able to attend LEAP summer remediation.  This is a GREAT program (I can assure you!  I have taught the 4th grade math remediation).  It is a FREE 5-week program (including transportation).  If students need to retake both Math and Language Arts, they will attend 2 classes (2.5 hours each).  If students only need to retake EITHER math or language arts, they will attend that class for 5 hours.  There is a lunch break in between.  At the end of the 5 week program, students will retake the test and the same achievement scores are needed to pass on to 5th grade.
