ABOUT ME

I am in my eighteenth year of teaching in public schools.  I attended the University of Tennessee for my Bachelor's and Master's degree in special education and have my doctoral degree in English education underway.  I am certified to teach across the range of students in special education including gifted in grades K - 12 and across grades in all subjects K-6.  I am also qualified to teach English and literature in grades 7-12.  My current schedule has me teaching English five periods a day which includes all eighth graders.

As my students quickly learn, I am all about building their repertoire and interest in words and encouraging them to see writing, research and speaking as empowering skills for life.  I set high standards and strive to make my classroom both a comfortable and challenging place of learning.
