ABOUT ME

I am in my seventeenth year of teaching in public schools.  I attended the University of Tennessee for my Bachelor's and Master's degree in special education and have my doctoral degree in English education underway.  I am certified to teach across the range of students in special education including gifted in grades K - 12.  I am also certified to teach students in all subjects K-6 and qualified to teach language arts in seventh and eighth grade.  My current schedule has me teaching English five periods a day which includes all eighth graders.

I am also a wife and mother of three children.  My sweet husband has carried our family through this busy season with his delightful humor and practical daily support.   My oldest son is still in college and serving in the military as a reservist.  My middle son is an eighth grader here at Northview and my youngest child is my only daughter and she is in fourth grade.

As my students quickly learn, I am all about building their repertoire and interest in words and encouraging them to see writing, research and speaking as empowering skills for life.  I set high standards and strive to make my classroom both a comfortable and challenging place of learning.
