     Welcome to Kindergarten!

I am very excited to be your teacher! I am looking forward to all of the fun and exciting activities that we are going to do this year. Most of all I am looking forward to all of the new and wonderful things that you will teach me!

Who is Mrs. Amanda?
This will be my 7th year as a teacher at Dyer School.  I spent 5 years teaching 5th grade, 1 year teaching 4th grade, and this is my first year to teach Kindergarten.
I am happily married to my husband, Wayne.  I love teaching and spending time with family!
I am a graduate of Obion County Central High School.  I graduated in 2004 from UTM with my degree in Education, and I graduated in 2007 from Bethel with my Master's degree.

What's my goal?
Excite, motivate, and teach my class to love and want to learn!!!

Feel free to call anytime during school or to send notes with your child. If I am not available to talk at the time that you call, Mrs. Beth will take a message, and I will call you back as soon as I can. I ALWAYS return phone calls. Also, another great way to reach me that is often ten times faster than phone calls is through email. My email address is abell@k12tn.net.

Class Rules
1.  Follow Directions
2. Work Quietly
3, Use Good Manners
4. Be Kind to Others
5. Follow School Rules (general rules such as hallway, cafeteria, respect property)

I will be spending the first few days going over rules, rules, and more rules. We will be learning what is appropriate and inappropriate behavior for a kindergarten student. The best way to learn the rules is to put them into practice. In order for the students to learn the rules they must experience consequences when a rule is broken and a reward when a rule is followed.  Please do not be upset if your child moves his/her clip in the next few weeks. If I reinforce the rules now, we will have a very productive year. I appreciate your cooperation and support.

If a rule is broken a student may be given a verbal warning. If the behavior does not change, the student will be required to move his/her clip. Each time a clip is moved, the following consequences will be implemented:

Consequences of Negative Behavior
Green= Go ahead with great behavior!
Yellow= Caution: Lose 5 minutes of recess
Blue= Detour: (Change the behavior & go a new direction) Lose 10 minutes of recess
Red= Stop the Behavior: Lose 20 minutes of recess

 Reinforcements for Positive Behavior
1. Students will be praised
2. Surprise Day
3. Positive Notes or phone calls to parents
4. Extra 15 minutes of recess or treasure chest
